Technical Director - Full Time

Technical Director

Temple Rock Productions is looking for a client-facing, innovative, experienced Technical Director. The Technical Director will work directly with our clients and our staff to develop and manage high-quality experiential programs. In this role, you will need to be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team to access needs and objectives of client events, develop solutions and execute on-site at live events. Applicants must have a production technology specialty (e.g., audio, video, lighting). The ideal candidate is a driven, outgoing, hardworking go-getter with a passion for all things technology and an affinity for high-energy production environments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Travel domestically and internationally to execute TR projects (travel estimated at 30%)
  • Create memorable events, mixing strategy and creativity with production and technology for the optimal audience experience
  • Collaborate with clients to successfully devise and deliver event production and technology solutions according to expectations, budget and timeline
  • Lead technical design of the event space and ensure continuity of elements (e.g., scenic, graphics, print elements)
  • Determine staffing and production needs for preproduction and execution of live events
  • Develop budgets, floor plans and production schedules for live events and assume a leadership role as an on-site Technical Director and project liaison
  • Collaborate with environmental and graphic designers to create design concepts that meet client objectives and budget
  • Manage pre-event, on-site and post-event client relations, providing superior service and a high level of satisfaction to our clients from start to finish
  • Responsible for sharing information and providing clear direction to team members, suppliers and all on-site staff (production personnel) before, during and after execution of the event
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in theater, arts/media management or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of direct audio/video and/or lighting experience
  • 3+ years of client-facing event production management experience
  • Proficient in Vectorworks
  • Proven success in working both independently and collaboratively with client and vendor partners
